Sized and reinforced for what goes on it

A slab under a shop that holds a lift is a different animal from a shed pad. We size thickness, reinforcement and footing depth around the actual load, and we build vapor barrier and edge detail into the plan from the start.

We coordinate with your building supplier on anchor bolt layout and set sleeves for plumbing and conduit before the pour, so nothing has to be cut in later.

What's included

  • Load-appropriate thickness and rebar layout
  • Turned-down or footed edges where required
  • Vapor barrier under conditioned slabs
  • Anchor bolts and embeds set to your plan
  • Plumbing and conduit sleeves pre-set
  • Laser-screeded flat, floated and finished

Concrete Slabs & Foundations - common questions

How thick should a shop slab be?

It depends on what's going on it. A storage shed is fine at 4 inches. A shop with a vehicle lift needs 5–6 inches with rebar and possibly thicker footings at the lift location. We size it to the load.

Do you pour RV pads?

Yes. RV pads get 5–6 inches with rebar because of the point loads from leveling jacks and the weight of the rig. We also slope them for drainage and can add a utility hookup pad.
